Earthquake Memorial
In 1948, a tragedy occurred in Ashgabat, an earthquake of destructive force, 10 points on the Richter scale wiped out a beautiful city and claimed the lives of thousands of people. According to the earliest data, 25-30 thousand residents of the capital died as a result of the night tremors, however, according to new research by Turkmen archivists, the number of victims is much higher – more than 160 thousand dead. In the historical center of Ashgabat, on the fiftieth anniversary of the tragedy, in memory of the victims of the devastating Ashgabat earthquake, a memorial complex was erected in the form of a huge bronze bull, on the horns of which is a split globe with a woman holding a small golden child in her hands, saving her child.
