Carpet Museum
The Carpet Museum in Ashgabat is unique, it contains up to eight thousand man-made canvases of the best samples of all time, the oldest of which dates back to the XVII century. One of the most valuable exhibits of the museum is a carpet with an area of 193.5 sq. m. "Turkmen Kalby" created in 1941-1942. Another, the largest carpet in the world "Golden Age" with an area of 301 sq. m, woven in honor of the 10th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence by 40 carpet makers, for 8 months, is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest handmade carpet in the world.
In another showroom, an ancient Turkmen village is reproduced in all historical details, samples of ancient carpet art are shown here. On the second floor of the museum, the best man-made works of modern carpet makers collected from all the velayats of Turkmenistan are presented.
